Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. Methocel™ 40-101 by Dow acts as a film former, binder, suspension aid, lubricant, lather enhancer/stabilizer, emulsion stabilizer, gelling agent and dispersant. It delivers luxurious foam and stabilization to a variety of cleansing products.
It aids dispersion by forming protective, light & non-greasy films around particles to prevent coalescence and agglomeration. It offers interfacial thermal gelation & humectancy and improves product shelf-life & texture. It is suitable for low surfactant and mild systems. It can be combined with xanthan gum or inorganic thickeners to achieve suspension capabilities.
Methocel™ 40-101 finds application in formulating creams, lotions, facial masks, styling gels, shampoos, liquid hand soaps, shaving creams & foams, hair styling mousses, make-up, sulfate-free cleansers and sun care products.
