Oxidized polyethylene. Acts as a suspension aid, binder and flatting or texturizing agent. It is a high quality micronized oxidized polyethylene grade used primarily in pressed powder applications where its ability to provide dry-binding results in a pleasant cool, dry feel to the cake, yet prevents shattering upon impact. It provides improved payout and is often added to obtain a smoother, silkier feel. Used to obtain a specific feel and hardness.
Its use also results in a very uniform, matte appearance with improved payoff. The slightly polar nature of the oxidized grade of polyethylene can contribute to their compatibility with more polar oils used in various formulations. It is also used to contribute a lubricious feel to formulations, and is suitable for deodorants, antiperspirants, baby products and a variety of creams, lotions as well as powders where a soft, dry after feel is desired.
