DEFINITION |
Polymeric film-forming agent for use as hair fixatives particularly in aerosol sprays, pump sprays, liquid products, mousses and gels. Made of vinylpyrrolidone (VP) and vinyl acetate (VA) copolymer (ratio 60:40). Concentration 100%. pH 3.8-6.0 (10% aqueous solution). Forms clear solutions in water (may have to be heated to dissolve precipitates). Soluble also in soluble in ethanol, isopropanol, n-propanol, and glycerin. Solutions are nonionic and thus do not need to be neutralized. White powder, faint characteristic odor. Soluble in water and ethanol. |

It can be used add to water phase of formulas (usually no heating required). Typical use level between 1-12%. For external use only. |
