Anti-redeposition and soil-release polymers are functional auxiliary ingredients used in laundry detergents to improve fabric cleanliness and prevent dulling during repeated wash cycles.
While surfactants remove dirt and stains, these polymers ensure that detached soil particles do not redeposit onto fabrics, keeping clothes looking fresh and bright even after multiple washes.

The most common anti-redeposition agents include carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and polyacrylates, which form a protective hydrophilic film on fabric surfaces. This coating repels soil and keeps dirt suspended in the wash water until rinsing is complete.
