Carbomer. Ashland™ 981 carbomer by Ashland Specialty Chemical is an emulsifying, conditioning, foaming, gelling, rheology modifier and suspension agent. Exhibits pseudoplastic rheological behavior and is hydrophilic. It is anionic in nature & acidic in its unneutralized state.
It has to be neutralized with an appropriate base to achieve their thickening ability. Ashland™ 981 carbomer is suggested for use in styling gels, conditioning shampoos, oil-in-water emulsions, hand sanitizers and body washes. It aids spreadability on skin of oil-in-water emulsions.
