A silicone oil–based dashboard polisher is an automotive interior dressing formulated primarily with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) silicone oils that create a high-gloss, shiny, wet-look finish on dashboard, vinyl, plastic, and rubber surfaces.
These products rely on non-volatile silicone oils as the main active ingredient, which form a hydrophobic, glossy protective layer when applied to surfaces.

This type of dashboard polish is common in traditional torpido cilası products and is preferred when a deep shine and rich appearance are desired.

Properties of Silicone Oil–Based (High Gloss) Dashboard Polishers

1. High Gloss Finish

  • Produces a very shiny, wet-look surface.

  • Enhances color depth of plastic and vinyl.

  • Gives the dashboard a “just-detailed” appearance.

2. Contains High-Viscosity Silicone Oils

  • Usually includes PDMS silicone oil (350–1000 cSt or higher).

  • These oils create a smooth, glossy protective film.

3. Strong Hydrophobic Effect

  • Water beads and rolls off easily.

  • Protects against moisture and humidity.

4. UV Protection

  • Silicone oils absorb or reflect UV radiation.

  • Helps slow down fading, cracking, brittleness of dashboard materials.

5. Dust and Dirt Resistance (Moderate)

  • Repels water well, but the glossy film may attract some dust if over-applied.

  • Needs occasional wiping to avoid dust buildup.

6. Long-Lasting Shine

  • Stays glossy longer than water-based products.

  • Doesn’t evaporate quickly because silicone oils are highly stable.

7. Enhances Elasticity of Plastics

  • Silicone penetrates slightly into vinyl/rubber, keeping it flexible.

  • Helps prevent surface hardening.

8. Oily/Greasy Texture

  • Classic silicone gloss has a smooth, lubricated feel.

  • Not recommended for steering wheels, pedals, or gear knobs due to slipperiness.

9. Heat-Stable and Chemically Inert

  • Doesn’t degrade under sunlight or high interior temperatures.

  • Won’t react with most car interior materials.

10. Easy to Apply

  • Spreads easily with sponge or microfiber cloth.

  • Leaves a consistent shine even with minimal effort.

  • UV absorbers (optional) – added sun protection

Advantages

  • Very glossy, deep shine

  • Long-lasting protection

  • Water and UV resistant

  • Restores faded plastics

  • Excellent for showroom shine

Disadvantages
