1. Overview
A windshield de-icer spray is a winter automotive formulation designed to rapidly melt ice, frost, and snow from vehicle windshields, windows, mirrors, and locks. It works by lowering the freezing point of water, breaking the bond between ice and glass, and preventing re-freezing for a short period. These formulations are alcohol-based, fast-evaporating, safe for automotive glass, and highly effective in cold conditions.
2 & 3. Combined Composition + Manufacturing Process
A windshield de-icer spray is formulated using an alcohol base such as isopropyl alcohol or ethanol to quickly dissolve frost, combined with water to balance evaporation and application behavior, while glycol-type co-solvents and low-freeze-point carriers extend anti-freeze performance and slow down re-freezing. Mild nonionic surfactants are added to improve wetting and spreading across the glass, supported by anti-corrosion and anti-streak additives that protect vehicle parts and ensure clear visibility. Optional components like light fragrance or dye may be included for product identity. During manufacturing, these ingredients are blended in sequence to create a uniform, clear solution, which is then gently filtered and filled into fine-mist spray bottles under clean conditions to produce the final de-icer spray.
